h3. One of the worlds largest translation and interpreting company, thebigword, has announced a 12-month expansion and investment program following strong growth in the Technology translation sector.
The company, which provides language translation, face-to-face and telephone interpreting, and multilingual website support, will post a 40 per cent growth in Quarter One for its U.S. operation, compared with the previous year.
thebigword has doubled its West Coast business to meet demand for translation from major technology sector players and plans are in place for a 50 per cent increase in its New York office staffing.
Josh Gould, Chief Commercial Officer at thebigword, says the growth has come from both existing and new clients: “As one of the world’s largest linguist networks we have invested millions of dollars over the past few years in translation, review and interpreting tools, giving us the ability to manage capacity in a far more efficient way. This is driving growth, especially throughout our existing client base.”
Recently named by The Times, London as one of the top 100 fastest-growing international companies, thebigword has delivered year-on-year expansion in the U.S. with business coming from both the Government and corporate sectors.

A key element has been the thebigword’s continued investment in technology to support its linguists. A newly-develop resource management system has helped grow the company’s global linguist network from 8,500 to 12,000. Training and accreditation of linguists is a key element in thebigword’s delivery of accurate and time-critical language services. It is one of the first language businesses to operate a full-time online Learning Management System for linguists, providing classes ranging from emotional intelligence training to review and quality assurance best practices.
