thebigword Doubles its West Coast Operation

thebigword, the global top-20 interpreting and translation company, has doubled the size of its West Coast operation following major business wins.

The company, which has an established operation in New York, opened its San Francisco office just two years ago, servicing West Coast businesses, Government bodies and Silicon Valley technology clients.

Business wins of more than USD7 million have led to a doubling of staffing and office space in the past three months.

thebigword, which has offices around the world, was named by The Times, London, this week as one of the top 100 fastest growing international companies.

Josh Gould, Chief Commercial Officer of thebigword, says: “Our base in San Francisco has given us access to some of the most talented individuals in the country and some of the USA’s most successful companies”.

“As technology is increasingly a worldwide market, we have been able to support technology clients with local service standards whilst utilizing our global infrastructure.”

Thebigword grew its U.S. operation by 60 per cent last year.  Its success is based on American businesses limiting the effects of the homeland recession by selling goods and services on a global market, and Government organizations looking to work with language companies that can help them lower costs without compromising service levels.

The fastest-growing areas of business are in U.S. and British Government contracts where increasingly cosmopolitan populations are driving the need for regional and national Government bodies to communicate in a range of languages.

A key element has been the investment by thebigword in technology which supports the company’s 8,000 linguists in delivering a high-quality, cost-effective service for both spoken (interpreting) and written (translation) language services
